U.S. President Trump said on August 27 that Iran wants to meet with him. "I don't want to meet, they do. In fact, they are begging to make a deal," Trump stated.

Iran's foreign minister countered that diplomatic negotiations could resume if conditions were met. The foreign minister said "putting diplomacy back on track isn't impossible" but added that success depends on the U.S. understanding that "pressure doesn't work."

The foreign minister outlined three requirements for renewed talks: the U.S. should build trust with Iran, speak respectfully, and acknowledge Iranian rights and uphold previous commitments.
