Privacy Policy

How Middle East Affairs treats reader data.

Who we are

This site is published by Middle East Affairs. For any question about your data, including a request for access or deletion, write to info@middleeastaffair.com.

What we collect

You can read everything on this site without an account. We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number in order to read the news.

We count how many times a story is read. That count lives on our own server as a single number per story per day, and is not tied to your identity or your device.

Google Analytics

We would like to understand which stories are read. For that we may use Google Analytics, which stores a cookie on your device and sends visit data to Google.

It does not run unless you agree to it. Before you press “Accept” on the banner, Google's script is not loaded at all — not merely disabled. If you decline, we do not ask again.

You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser; the banner will reappear.

Third-party services

Some images and videos on this site are loaded from third-party servers. When that happens, those providers can see your IP address, as is true of any request on the internet.

Your rights

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you the right to know what data we process, to receive a copy of it, to have it corrected, and to have it erased. If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you comparable rights, including the right to know what is collected and to ask that it be deleted. We do not sell personal information to anyone. Send any request to info@middleeastaffair.com and we will respond.

Changes

If this policy changes, the current version is always on this page.
