U.S. President Trump said on Friday that Iran was pressing for talks. "I don't want to meet, they do. In fact, they are begging to make a deal," Trump stated.

Iran's foreign minister offered a more cautious assessment. He said that resuming diplomatic efforts "isn't impossible" but offered conditions for doing so.

The foreign minister set out three requirements: that the United States abandon pressure on Iran, speak respectfully, and acknowledge Iranian rights and commitments. "The U.S. should build trust, speak respectfully, acknowledge our rights and uphold commitments," he said.
