The Trump administration is urgently pressing for a humanitarian truce in Sudan that would allow unhindered aid access and increased assistance to civilians, according to Massad Boulos, the president's senior adviser for Arab and African affairs. Boulos said on Friday that Washington is also pushing for a comprehensive peace plan aimed at ensuring the warring parties meet their humanitarian obligations. He did not specify which parties the US was engaging or what response those parties had given.

Boulos said on the social media platform X that the administration continues to press "for a humanitarian truce that allows unhindered humanitarian access and increased aid delivery to those most in need, as well as for a comprehensive peace plan that helps holds parties to their humanitarian obligations." He offered no timeline for the diplomatic initiative.
