A year after the Scottish Parliament voted unanimously to call for a full boycott of Israel and companies they described as complicit in Gaza, pro-Palestine groups say the Scottish government has taken little action to implement such measures. The Scottish Palestinian Society and Scotland for Palestine said the government's failure to act constituted a "shameful chapter in Scottish history."

The devolved Scottish government has powers to impose sanctions through procurement contracts, including those for the National Health Service worth millions of pounds. The groups cited the government's own precedent: it had exercised trade, cultural, and sporting boycotts against Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine.

The Scottish National Party government has not yet on the groups' demands or the implementation of the parliament's vote.
