Thousands of people in Nepal lost their homes, possessions and sometimes family members within minutes when flash floods swept through the country on August 26. Authorities, nongovernmental organizations and volunteers have since worked to deliver aid to those affected. Conditions in temporary shelters, often overcrowded, remain difficult.

Survivors now face concerns beyond the fate of missing relatives. Many worry about how they will rebuild after mud engulfed their villages and destroyed their homes.

France 24 correspondents visited a temporary shelter set up inside a school in Rasia, near the disaster zone. The reporting team included Shahzib Wahla, Audine de Gool, Ashraf Obaid and Diamond Obrietti.
