Iran's military announced Thursday that it had targeted U.S. bases in the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. The announcement came after the Iranian state news agency Tasnim reported that American strikes on Tuesday had killed six members of Iran's naval forces and three fighter pilots.

The escalation occurred as fighting intensified this week between Iran and the United States. President Donald Trump has threatened further strikes against Iran, according to the reports.

The Iranian military did not provide details about the extent of damage from its announced attacks on the U.S. bases.
