A hydroelectric power station at the world's tallest dam has completed the first phase of its development plan by bringing all three initial turbines online, according to energy industry tracker Platform Energía. The facility, called Shuangiangkou, is located on China's Yangtze River.

The three operational turbines at Shuangiangkou are now generating a combined capacity of 1,500 megawatts. A fourth and final turbine is planned to come online, which would bring the plant's total capacity to 2,000 megawatts, or 2 gigawatts.
